Project Details

IN-SITU Maintenance Services recently completed a trial to assess both the application process and the effectiveness of Denso™ ColourTape in protecting metal surfaces from corrosion in environments exposed to sodium hypochlorite. Widely used as a disinfectant and bleaching agent, it is highly corrosive at elevated concentrations and can cause significant damage to metals and pose a risk to personal health and safety.

For the test, multiple flanges were wrapped with Denso ColourTape. Two carbon steel plates were also prepared: one plate was wrapped with a flange, whilst the second was left exposed. Both plates were then left in situ for a month to observe the effects of sodium hypochlorite exposure.

After one month, an inspection revealed that the plate protected by Denso ColourTape showed no signs of corrosion or deterioration, whilst the exposed plate was badly corroded. This clear contrast demonstrated the tape’s effectiveness in harsh, corrosive environments. The trial therefore concluded that Denso ColourTape offers reliable and durable protection, making it a robust solution for industries facing similar challenges.
