Project Details
BPGIC is an important tank storage operator whose licensed activities in Fujairah, UAE cover the storing of crude oil, fuel oil, and all kinds of oil products and gas, as well as building, managing, and investing in refineries including the extraction and exploration of crude oil.
After discussions with the consultants MUC, BPGIC approved the use of the Denso Steelcoat™ Tank Base Protection System for all the tanks of their ongoing expansion of the Fujairah storage facilities terminal. This approval was based on the successfull record of the Denso system being used by other tank farm operators in Fujairah. The Denso protective system was applied by contractors Audex.
Phase 1 – Involved protection of 16 No. 8.9m to 42m dia. Tanks.
Phase 2 – Involved protection of 4 No. 42.5m & 4 No. 70m dia. Tanks.
After hand power tool cleaning and the application of Denso Hi-Tack Primer™, Densyl Mastic™ was used to fill all voids before the area was
wrapped with a layer of Denso Hi-Tack Tape™. Denso Primer D™ was then applied to a masked area before th application of a layer of Denso
Ultraseal RT Tape™. Finally the system was over-coated with Denso Acrylic Topcoat™ forming a lasting waterproof and flexible seal.
Five years after this successful application was completed for Phase 1 and the second phase was carried out in exactly the same way leaving
the customer very satisfied with the future longevity of the storage tanks.
