Project Details
The North Field East (NFE) project is an expansion of the North Field, the world’s largest non-associated natural gas field, located offshore northeast of Qatar. Shared between Iran and Qatar, the field’s southern region is being developed to boost Qatar’s LNG production by an estimated 43%, increasing capacity from 77 to 110 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa).
Announced by QatarEnergy in April 2017, the project is operated by Qatargas and involves constructing four new LNG trains, eight wellhead platforms, and drilling 80 new wells using eight offshore rigs. Additionally, four offshore 38-inch trunk lines and 28-inch intra-field pipelines will be laid. The project will transport approximately 4.6 billion standard cubic feet of feed gas per day to onshore facilities.
In 2024, Denso’s Qatari distributor, Al Tayeb Water Technology W.L.L. supplied a Denso™ Petrolatum Tape System for the protection of 1″-12″ diameter buried GRE pipe and associated carbon steel fittings and risers for post indicator valves at the project’s LNG onshore facilities. The below ground system application was completed on site by Firelink W.L.L. and concluded with backfilling of the excavated areas.
